Evening and Correspondence Department
Evening and correspondence department at Western University has been functioning from the first days of University’s existence. From the very first steps we have taken orientation to establishment of high educational standards and today we try to build the program of training, using the best national traditions and foreign experience.
It will be interesting for you to know that academic curriculums of the university were recognized by many higher educational institutions of the USA, Great Britain, Germany and other countries. Western University is a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU) of UNESCO and since 1997 on regular basis has been published IAU catalogues of universities. Now Western University passes accreditation in two International Accreditation Organizations (USA).
Requirements for a complete training of specialists which are put forward by international organizations, find full reflection in curriculums of evening and correspondence faculty .The department’s academic curriculum is based on the curriculum set by the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic.
Today the department provides undergraduate education in the field of political science, legal regulation of economy, general economy ,translation, English philology, international law, jurisprudence, international relations, etc. The languages of education are English, Azeri and Russian.
Students of the evening and correspondence department have classes four times a week for 4 academic hours a day (16 academic hours a week). According to the curriculum of the department 50-55% from the total amount of hours are allocated for the independent study. Annual schedules of study are handed over to the enlisted students.
The duration of education is 5 years.
