University preparatory courses at Western University are designed to select and train the learners to pass the admission tests held by the State Admission Commission of the Republic in order to be admitted to the universities in Azerbaijan Republic. The quota of the Preparatory Courses are mainly formed of the students of grades 10 and 11.
The highly qualified teachers who have wide experience in the area of test preparation deliver the lectures which allows obtaining quite high results while passing tests. Students are tested regularly during the academic year. Successful completion of tests at the end of the courses will enable students to continue their education either at Western University or another higher educational establishment in Azerbaijan.
The period of training is meant for 9 months of intensive instruction and independent work. The program consists of 2 terms: September-December and January-May. The classes are held from 14.00 until 18.00, which allows students to combine school lessons with their trainings for admission tests. The training is conducted both in Azerbaijani and Russian.
Those who have chosen design specialty are trained for the creative (artistic) exams. The teachers are professional artists. The students can set out their works at the exhibitions and they can take part in various contests held by the School of Design of Western University.
Another main part of the training curriculum is weekly two -hour computer classes.
Intensive English Language training
As well as the preparation on the main disciplines, the program also provides essential training in language skills. The courses are aimed at intensive and effective teaching of English especially Grammar and Conversation.
The experienced teachers who were trained in foreign countries as well as native speakers of English are invited from the USA and Great Britain to teach English.
During the period of the functioning of the University preparatory courses, English has been taught by Janelle Glosh, Robert Flager, Hassan Shafee, Thomas Faustiny, Caroline Adams, Eric Lapisto from the US, Nesrin Borumand, Zena Waters from Great Britain.
The classes are delivered with the use of modern methodology, audio-video aids, and modern interactive computer programs.
