The Western University Library is one of the most important parts of the whole infrastructure and is the main source of information on all subjects. The philosophy, goals, and objectives of the library are consistent with those of the University mission. The library is very active in its fundamental role of centrally supporting the teaching, research and public life elements of the academic enterprise. The Scientific Library Center of the University has existed for more than 10 years and is continually expanding and improving its facilities, book stock, information resources, equipment and services. It is currently one of the most modern libraries in the country with a total of 50,000 titles in Azeri, Russian, English, German, French, Spanish, Turkish and other languages, more than 500 micro-forms and other sources of information. English books account for more than 15,000 titles. There is also a wide range of periodicals - more than 160 scientific - educational newspapers and magazines which include 42 titles from USA, 20 from Great Britain, 29 from Russia, 9 from Germany, and 5 from the Netherlands.
The book stock of the library comprises literature on: economics, management, finance, accounting, marketing, information technologies, politics sociology, law, statistics, philosophy, religion, psychology, history, ecology, tourism, rhetoric, logic, art, design, mass - media, mathematics, pedagogic, the English language, English for special purposes, books on American, British, German literature, dozens of reference books, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, and others. Among the books there are rarities that date back to previous centuries. Lovers of classic literature can find here relevant literature dating from the antique times.
The library has two reading halls where 150 students can simultaneously study. There is also a special room for audio-video equipment which allows students to watch educational films or listen to teaching courses. The audio - visual division of the library comprises a traditional audio - visual collection of sound and video recording with software and multimedia capabilities of the Computer Center. The library staff are in contact with various publishing houses in the Republic and abroad which enables them to obtain new catalogues and inform readers about new literature in different fields.
Our Center has 5 computers which have access to the Internet. Every student is entitled to one hour a day to be spent working on or for browsing the Internet Technical facilities of the library include two video-players, 14 audio tape players, more than 1000 audio-video records consisting of:

Books are browsed through by means of the electronic catalogue which facilitates and speeds up the search process. Every title has its inventory number, which is entered to the electronic catalogue. And this in turn allows readers to find the required publication on the bookshelves. We are committed to constantly improving our services. This is why our electronic catalogue continues to expand as new information is entered almost each day.
The library is normally open Mondays to Fridays, from 09:00 to 20:00 and on Saturdays from 09:00 to 16:00. You are more than welcome to our Scientific Library Center!
