The library of Western
University is open to its students, faculty
and staff as well as to alumnus at no
charge. The library gives the access to the
knowledge and information they need in a
variety of formats: books, musical scores
and recordings, magazines and journals,
films and videos, audio records, digital
databases, Internet. The library aims to
provide teaching, study and research with
the right information at the right time.
The library is repaired by
the design, which corresponds to the world
standards and provided with the most modern
technical equipment.
The core of the library is a
collection of more than 50 thousand books in
Azerbaijani, Russian, English, German,
French, Spanish, Turkish and other
languages. Majority of books and other
copies came from abroad – by the line of UN,
UNESCO, TASIS, TEMPUS and other
international organizations, partners of
Western University.
The library’s collection
houses a solid core of books, as well as
subscriptions to numerous professional
journals and magazines.
The index of thematic
literature comprises economics, management,
finance, book-keeping, accounting,
marketing, policy, computer science,
sociology, law, statistics, philosophy,
religion, psychology, history, ecology,
tourism, rhetoric, logic, art, design,
general English language, specialized
English, American, British, German
literature, belles-lettres, information
literature (reference books, vocabularies,
encyclopedias), means of mass-media,
mathematics, pedagogics etc.
Among books in the library
there are rare copies of more than 100 years
old. Lovers of classic literature can find
here necessary information, beginning from
the antic period.
The computer room possesses a number of
computers with an access to World Wide Web
and more than 1000 CD-ROMs
Our library is not an
archive, but is a constant renewed and
modern scientific center. Funds are created
not spontaneously, but by the curriculum of
the University.
