February 17 , 2007: The Training course on
“Sustainable Human Development”

Western University is the first university in the country who developed and
introduced the course on Sustainable Human development to its students. The
course has been taught at Western University since 1997.
The aim of the training conducted on February 17 was to help other universities
to incorporate this unique course in their curricula, to disseminate highly
important knowledge on sustainable human development among the population and,
as a result, to gain the advancement of the sustainable human development
principles in the country.
This training was participated by teachers and staff of all universities in
Azerbaijan.
The training gave the participants an overall understanding of sustainable human
development, underlined its main principles, discussed contemporary problems and
perspectives. Special attention was given to the syllabus structure of the
course.
The training course was held by Professor Urkhan Alakbarov.
