SCHOOL OF COMPUTER SCIENCES
AND TECHNOLOGY
The School of Computer Sciences was established at
Western University proceeding from the objective needs in training of
qualified specialists for Azerbaijan during the transition period of the
economy towards the market economy.
For the implementation of new programs in the sphere of
computer science specialists at Western University have worked out a new
curriculum taking into account the needs of undergraduate and graduate
degree programs and derived from the study of the most successful foreign
experience in the area.
The School offers a wide range of courses and has
highly qualified local instructors as well as foreign professors from the
USA and Europe.
The School is equipped with the Computer Center, which
consists of two centers for the study and programming of computer
appliances as well as computers with high-speed Pentium processors and
multimedia hardware responding the latest international development and
standards. Further facilities include quality printing equipment,
scanners, copy machines and video cameras.
The School is planning to further expand and develop
technical base with the purpose of increasing the quality of the practical
education, invite leading specialists in the field of computer system to
teach at Western University, and also broaden the links with foreign
universities in terms of experience exchange, student and teacher
exchange.
